Turtle Island, Fiji - Private Island Getaway

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Turtle Island is a wonderful place of tranquil delight to wind down from the busy world we all live in. It is a privately owned Island some 40mins flight from Nandi by seaplane and is an amazing destination for honeymooners or just a relaxing a holiday even with its flaws. There is space for 14 couples, the bures are very nice indeed particularly the Vonu Point some 500 metres from your nearest neighbour.
The food on Turtle Island was good, though there was room for improvement and the foodies out there know serving dinner on cold plates is a no, no.

All meals and drinks are included with your stay, along with a number of other activities, like fishing, horse-back riding, bike riding, and various other fun activities.

It was a compulsory invitation that if people are getting married on the island that the guests staying should also attend the ceremony and the banquet dinner that followed, while this was fun once it may not be something you would want to repeat as 3 days later we attended another wedding. It could have been bad luck that there were 2 weddings during our stay but it would be worth checking on if you were not wanting to be “wedding out” when having a relaxing holiday.

The customer service at Turtle Island is second to none, so friendly and very helpful as the Fijian people generally are.

If you want that Island get away, it is certainly a worthwhile trip.

The Regent Seven Seas Experience

What defines The Regent Experience?

For me, it’s a level of luxury with no pretensions; a relaxed sense of well-being - gracious service and warm smiles; every wish is anticipated and I feel totally pampered.

This extraordinary 6-Star cruise line offers all-inclusive value;

  • Spacious, all ocean-view suites and staterooms – most with balconies
  • All on-board gratuities included
  • Complimentary beverages including select wines and spirits, soft drinks, bottled water and hot beverages served throughout the day
  • In-suite bar setup and Butler service in categories B and above
  • Refrigerator replenished daily with soft drinks, beer and bottled water

The Regent Seven Seas Voyager & Mariner have a more modern propulsion system, thus better operability for the larger vessel in small ports. The cruise feels smoother.

In comparison to other 6-Star cruise lines, the Regent ships have larger staterooms and the public spaces are spacious which means you do not notice the population on the vessel.

Regent Seven Seas offers interesting itineraries and longer voyage segments. Cruise through less charted passages and leave behind mass-market tourist meccas.

One big ‘wow’ factor for Regent is their Single Occupancy Supplement - It starts from just 25%.

Most other cruise lines are 75% or even 100%.

Simply put, Regent’s uncompromising excellence is in the service and attention to detail by the staff-to-guest ratio; in the diversity of fine cuisine found in their restaurants; in the richness of experiences you’ll discover throughout the themed programs and land excursions. And, of course, in the luxurious accommodations.

You can feel very comfortable cruising with Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Las Vegas offers a surreal experience that can be found nowhere else on the planet.
With extraordinary hotels and resorts, top name entertainment (Celine Dion, Elton John
or David Copperfiel to name a few), world renowned dining and shopping, golf, spas, theme parks
and endless attractions - there is literally something for everyone!

What fuels the feeling of constant excitement in Las Vegas is that every year there are hundreds
of concerts, festivals, championships, performance and tournament events of all kinds
that bring the best of the best to town. It’s like a circle of thrill and participation 24/7.

For total luxury and opulence, I love the Wynn, Bellagio, Four Season and Ritz-Carlton hotels.
Other fabulous, yet not so expensive hotels are Paris, Caesar’s Palace, New York and the newly renovated
Planet Hollywood which is centrally located on ‘The Strip’.

The Bellagio Fountains are spectacular. These gigantic water fountains burst into a dance
with rock ‘n roll, show tunes and heart-felt opera. You could spend half of the night watching this
amazing free show. It truly is inspiring.

For shoppers alike, Las Vegas offers a discounted outlet center and also a premium
outlet center for designer and brand names. It’s easy to save money shoping at these stores
only to be charged excess baggage at the airport!

For many, Las Vegas is the gateway to the magical Grand Canyon. What an awe-inspiring view!
Day tours are ofered by means of coach, plane or helicopter.

People watching is a buzz in Las Vegas, and it’s with these people that you will “go wild” with
in the casino’s on the slot machines, tables, at the bars, restaurants, shows and nightclubs.

As they say, “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” and from my own experience
in this place of total self-indulgence I have to agree!
