THE NORTH

Grand-Baie Very important seaside place and main marina of the island. One of the starting points for big game fishing.
Coin de Mire island, Cap Malheureux.

The well known Botanical garden of Pamplemousses, famous for its giant water lilies and the numerous variety of trees and plants.
Created by Pierre Poivre in 1767 on the ancient domaine of Mahé de Labourdonnais, the castle of Mon Plaisir dating from 1735.

Port Louis, famous for its market. During the visit, see also the theatre, the mosque, the government hotel, the Caudan Waterfront and the Champ de Mars race track (Mauritians are quite addicted to horse racing).

The domaine Les Pailles. 10 minutes from Port Louis. Strolling on mountains or by 4x4. Visit of the sugar mill, the alcohol still and the spice garden. Ride on calash or small train.


THE EAST

L'Île aux Cerfs (in front of Touessrok hotel). Access by regular shuttle. ,Ideal for lunch (restaurants).
THE CENTRE

Curepipe and its surroundings, residential area having numerous ancient colonial houses.

Casela Bird park located in the magnificent area of black river. Very interesting visit of a l bird park having a broad range of animals and also of its garden in between bamboo and tamarind trees.


THE SOUTH

Black River gorges national Park, Plaine Champagne, Mahebourg, Grand Bassin, La Vanille Crocodile Park Souillac, Domaine de l'ylang- Ylang, Le Val Nature Park.

Colored Earth of chamarel, Mare aux Vacoas, Plaine Champagne, Highest point of the central plateau. Dunes of multiple coloured volcanic earth and nearby the cascades of chamarel.
The valley of colours nature park: At the foot of the Savanne mountain, at Mare des Anguilles.

Saint-Aubin & Bois Chéri, visit of the tea factory of Bois Chéri: tasting session. Magnificent view point. Tropical garden, anthuriums and vanilla green houses, Art galleri exclusively for mauritian artists.

Rochester falls: Near souillac, a magnificent cascade and a very nice panorama of the south of the island. The access road goes through sugar cane fields.

Le domaine du Chasseur: In the south of the island, in the heights of Mahebourg and Vieux Grand Port, a domaine of 950 ha in the heart of a deep forest. Hunting - Fishing - Outings - Paragliding.

Le Morne and its enchanting surroundings with the hotels on the seaside.

Le Domaine de BEL AIR
Situated in the south of Mauritius, Bel Air Sugar Estate consists of about 850 hectares of cane-land, as well as a further 40 hectares of cliff-top pasture land, with superb views, and some 15 hectares of sub-tropical forest, known as "Paradise Valley".

TRIP IN TOWN

Port-Louis: (135 200 inhabitants), vivid capital where modern construction and old creole houses mix together.
To see: extraordinary market, the port and its avenue of royal coconut trees in front of the government house, the institute museum, the Champ de Mars and its horse races towered by the Adelaide Fort. The new commercial complex of Caudan in front of the port.
This town with its streets always full of people is one of the most visited sites. All the marine activity is effected in Port Louis.

Curepipe: (79 000 inhabitants), essentially a residential town .
Curiosities: Trou-aux-cerfs. Ancient volcano crater towering the town and surroundings.

Beau Bassin, Quatre-Bornes, Rose-Hill, Vacoas, Moka: share the other main town of the plateau.

THE BIG CREOLE HOUSES

Castle of Mon-Plaisir:
Built by the governor Mahé de Labourdonnais in 1735, inside the botanical garden of Pamplemousses.

Château du Réduit:
The official residence of the President, built in 1778. Between Rose-Hill and Moka ( Visit: once per year only).

Eureka:
Ancient colonial house transformed into a museum. Road from Port Louis to Rose Hill, towards Montagne-Ory

Château de Labourdonnais:
Ancient colonial house built in 1850. Road of Belle Vue Mauricia to forbach / Goodlands.
Château Bel-Ombre:
Built in 1776 on a sugar estate, South west coast
Château de Villebague:
Ancient residence of Mahé de Labourdonnais (1740). Road of the Grande Rosalie via la Nicolière.
Riche-En-Eau:
Colonial residence of a sugar estate. Road of Mahébourg towards Deux-Bras. Site where the film "Paul et Virgine" was shot.
