Nocturnal Spotlighting
Provides the opportunity to observe nocturnal animals. One of the highlights is when the caimans are spotted, whose eyes present impressive red reflex.
Biking
Pantanal is very flat, enabling agreeable bicycle rides. Throughout the roads or trails, the silence is the advantage of this transportation modality.
The bicycle paths and distance vary according to the group profile.
Canadian canoe trip
It is done around the bays of the lodges (SEDE and BAIAZINHA). The guests row in three-seat Canadian canoes and contemplate the nearby vegetation and water birds by very close.
It is also a good opportunity to hear the local sounds, besides admire the fantastic Pantanal's sunset.
Photographic Safari
Done in specially adapted vehicles, this type of trip enables the access to the most distant places of the farm. During the photographic safari, it is possible to observe the peculiarities and the contrasts of the vegetation, as well as a large variety of animals.
Many times this tour is combined with a trail in the ranch forests, the cordilheiras and gallery forests. Generally in each package there are two or three photographic safaris, to different destinations, since that is the best way to observe the wildlife.
Horseback Riding
It's the most traditional way to get to know Pantanal. In this type of excursion it is common to see the harmonious conjoint living between cattle and wildlife, besides being possible to explore regions where we can not go by foot, nor vehicles, like the marshes.
Walking
Farm Tour
Is a walk through the surroundings of the SEDE lodge, corral, research centers, school and Environmental Interpretation Center. The walk destination is the Paizinho's bridge, one of the most traditional places of the Caiman Ecological Refuge, where is the spot to see the Spectacled Caimans.
It is a magical moment in which the tourists get very close to the caimans with all the safety provided by the guides, getting to know up close one of Pantanal's symbols.
Walking trails in the woodsDone in many trails in the proximities of the lodges, the walking in the forests allows the guests to observe small animals and the region's vegetation.
It is the activity that provides the greatest contact with the environment that is being visited. Reinforcing the ecological focus of its activity, the Caiman Ecological Refuge alternates the trails, minimizing the impacts upon the environment.
Horse riding with overnight at a sub-station of the ranch (Retiro)
This horse riding has the same program of the cattle drive, but without the cowboys and the cattle. At the Retiro, the guests will enjoy the Pantaneiro dinner with the guitar player, sleep in the hammocks and the next day ride back to the headquarters, unless a vehicle is requested. This tour has a minimum of 6 people.
Cattle drive with overnight at a sub-station of the ranch (Retiro)
In this special trip you will have the opportunity to take part of a long horse riding journey, along with the cowboys, conducting a cattle drive, passing by several regions of the ranch, until arrive at Retiro Santa Voia, a substation of the ranch, where there is a camp for cattle drives overnights.
Tonight, you will have the opportunity to spend the night in the hammocks, on the same way the cowboys do for more than 200 years of cattle work in the Pantanal.
A delicious "Pantaneiro" dinner, with the sound of a local guitar player, will give the rhythm of the night, along with the owls and crickets. In the next day, the way back to the headquarters of the ranch will be by horse, or if previously scheduled, a car will pick you up (in the dry season). This tour has a minimum of 6 people.
A day as a cowboy (Dia de Peão)
Have you ever thought of live the routine of an authentic Pantanal cowboy (the campeiros) for a whole day? To give you this opportunity, Caiman Ecological Refuge create the "Dia de Peao).
Besides the traditional ritual of choosing and settling the horses, the tour will show you how is the cattle work and the lassoing practice.
At lunch time, a "matula", typical cowboy food, will quench your hunger after an intense morning. More work in the afternoon and with a refreshing "Roda de Tereré", traditional drink from the region, tasted while in a conversation gathering, we will end another adventure day.
Special horse riding trips

The special horse ridings trips were designed for those guests who are looking for a bigger and longer contact with the pantanal's life, living the day by day of the cowboys and having an unforgettable experience.
During these activities, the guests will be in direct contact with the cowboys, being possible to ask them about their emotions, experiences, stories and habits. They are simple people, but with a deep knowledge that will certainly let you enchanted.

This tour lasts an entire morning or an afternoon, according with the availability and program of the cowboys.

On this trip the idea is riding for a longer time, aiming to know more a great part of Caiman ranch. Fauna and flora are going toe be our companion during the trip.
This trip is designed for those guests who wishes learn or improve their techniques, with the opportunity of riding in a different rhythm of the regular riding tours.
This horseback riding has always the presence of a native field guide (not bilingual), who knows the region like few.
NOTE: For bilingual groups, the hiring of an interpreter has an extra cost.
Birdwatching trip
It is an unique moment. You will be enchanted during birdwatching trip, an excursion for those who are interested in know and photograph birds in the search for the most rare and difficult species to be observed. There are more than 350 cataloged bird species in Caiman.
To provide support to you and to the remaining members of the group who are experience guiding bird watchers from all over the world. At the end of the trip this same guide will help you with the checklist of the watched birds.
Motor boat tour to Aquidauana river
It is a great opportunity for those who wish to get to see the more distant areas of the REC. The trip lasts the entire afternoon and start with a photographic safari, crossing the ranch from south to north, passing by many different habitats.
The tour features beautiful landscapes and you will ride along the Aquidauana River in an motor boat named Voadeira with capacity to hold 09 people. On the way back, after a delicious snack by the river, we do a spotlighting tour looking for the nocturnal animals. This tour has a minimum of 4 people.
