Cradle Mountain Lodge, Tasmania

Cradle Mountain Lodge is a unique wilderness retreat on the edge of the World Heritage Listed Cradle Mountain/Lake St. Clair National Park. The awesome beauty of this region is an inspiration that will stay with you long after you leave.

Here you see the face of creation all around you in the mirror lakes and rugged mountain peaks. And you don't need to be an environmentalist to feel humble in the towering presence of a King Billy Pine - over 1,000 years old yet still a relative newcomer to these ancient forests.

One of Australia's Natural Treasures

This is a superb escape with breathtaking scenery, cosy cabins, magnificent meals and days filled with simple pleasures.

Cradle Mountain Lodge Accommodation

At Cradle Mountain Lodge, guest accommodations are dotted amongst tree-lined ranges and overlook grassy folds. Wallabies and wombats pausing between mouthfuls of buttongrass and possums posing gracefully as they criss-cross timber boardwalks are some of the magical sights that await as you make your way along the well-lit trails and boardwalks.

Wood-smoke curling from chimneys is often the first hint of the contentment to be found at Cradle Mountain Lodge. Your private timber cabin is set discreetly in the wilderness and each cabin offers soothing natural views whether it be of the Lodge Lake, the Pencil Pine River or the rolling hills and bushland expanse of Cradle Valley.

Inside your cabin a log fire is one of the many appealing aspects you'll find each are inviting, comfortable and rich with mountain character.

King Billy Suite King Billy Suite representing the ultimate in accommodation, King Billy Suites are expansive featuring separate sleeping and living areas including king size bed and oversized bathroom with two person spa. Cabins are styled with hand-made Tasmanian wood furnishings and feature king-sized beds piled with feather pillows and soft goose-down duvets. Of course a log fire and a deep spa are part of the attraction.

Spa Suites also offer a range of additional in-room comforts, a mini-bar and complimentary gourmet coffee and tea station with signature Cradle Mountain Cookies are amongst some of the extra treats included in this style of cabin.

Enjoy music from your in-room CD or the silence of the bush. Each Spa Suite has a large private verandah with outdoor furniture and with views directed towards the surrounding wilderness, wildlife spotting in comfort is all a part of Cradle's natural charm.

Cradle Lodge Panorama The Lodge itself has an ambience of warmth and security that welcomes you to every room. Perhaps it's the glow of the open fires that keeps drawing you back or those quiet moments in the Guest's Lounge, catching up on local lore and history. Then of course there's the temptation of the Highland Restaurant and its walk-in Wine Cellar. Or perhaps the mood calls for a less formal meal in the Tavern Bar, a great place to share your adventures with new friends.

Inside your cabin you'll immediately feel at home. The layout is generous, comfortable and more than a touch romantic.

And when the snow falls, as it can even in the summer months at Cradle, there's nothing cosier than being in your cabin. Ignore the electric heaters stoke the fire instead. After dinner in the Lodge retreat to your cabin and share a glass of red wine in front of a roaring fire.

One thing is certain, summer or winter, the beauty of Cradle Mountain is an inspiration that will stay with you long after you leave.
