| Villa Monachus is situated on the coast above the spectacular Blue Caves, right in the north east of the island. There is a stone pathway leading directly to the sea and the legendary Priest’s Cave which, back in olden times, was used for meditation by a monk. The sea here is blue-green in colour and crystal clear, beautiful for swimming off the rocks. The owner is a water-ski instructor and is able to provide water-ski lessons on request. There are also motorboats which can be hired by guests to visit a nearby private, sandy beach or other nearby beaches at Maktis Gialos and Xigia, or the fishing village of Agios Nikolaos with a beach and taverna. There are also ferry connections from Agios Nikolaos to Kefalonia (one hour away), where there is a good choice of local tavernas, cafes and shops. From the property, there are panoramic views over the sea. The grounds consist of olive groves and there is a herb garden, water fountains and a private swimming pool (round shape, approximately 50 m2) with hydro-massage. There are areas for relaxing and dining outdoors, a traditional village oven and a barbecue. There are canoes, snorkelling and fishing equipment, mountain bikes and an astronomical observatory available for guests' use. Use of a speedboat can be arranged, at extra cost, as well as watersports activities, fishing trips and boat excursions. Accommodation is in the main villa and an independent air conditioned studio apartment. During July and August, the villa and studio must be rented together, but in other months they can be rented separately. The main villa is on two levels with the rooms opening to terraces, also with amazing sea views. In harmony with its natural environment, the villa has been constructed in stone and wood and is furnished very tastefully. Amenities include satellite TV, DVD, a live scuba transmission of the Blue Caves' underwater world on LCD TV, stereo sound system, games and a security system. |
