Situated within a large private estate of over 2000 hectares of wild natural countryside between the mountains and the sea, La Maison de Maquis is a beautifully renovated 16th century 3-storey stone farmhouse offering complete peace and privacy, in the middle of the estate, with views of the moors and the mountains. The estate provides a rare and special environment where guests can immerse themselves in a genuinely authentic Corsica, far from the bustle of civilisation. The house has been renovated with the utmost respect to Corsican tradition, combining tasteful simplicity with modern comforts. Thick walls ensure the rooms are cool in summer, the floors are chestnut and the bedrooms painted in soft ochre colours. Deep sofas and a large original fireplace add to the charm and comfort.
The house is surrounded by a lawned garden with a swimming pool (10 x 5m) in a dramatic position with views over the moors. Up steps from the pool, there is an outdoor kitchen (barbecue, gas stove, dishwasher, coffee machine and wood-burning oven) and a covered dining area. There is also a hamman beside the pool. Activities on the estate include nature walks, fishing, wine tasting, or relaxing on the private white sand beach, a five minute drive away. The beach is provided with sun beds and umbrellas and is only used by a few other properties on the estate. There is also access to many other private creeks.
Prices include breakfast bakery products delivered each morning with the newspaper, grocery delivery service, daily cleaning, aquagym, aerobic classes, and vegetables picked fresh from the vegetable garden. Extras available on request include the services of a cook, sea fishing, massage, horseback riding, sea excursions and hunting.
