Blanket Bay
The Lodge at Blanket Bay sits in sprawling grounds on the bush-clad fringes of Lake Wakatipu. Built in the grand style of the finest alpine lodges and finished with native New Zealand timber and stone, the Lodge is a sanctuary of comfort.

The long driveway meanders across a green pasture where you will find sheep grazing. To your right are maginificent views of Mount Earnslaw. Winding down the road stunning views of Lake Wakatipu open up on your left. Straight ahead is the grandeur of the Humboldt mountain range, over which cross the world famous Greenstone and Routeburn tracks. Then you will find Blanket Bay, your own retreat, offering beautiful views of the scenery and all the region has to offer.

Accommodation

blanket_ls_bedAccommodation at Blanket Bay is provided in five intimate lakeside rooms, three phenomenal suites, and four beautiful chalet suites all filled with sumptuous furnishings and rich rugs. Natural materials are employed widely throughout, reflecting the Lodge's special relationship with the environment, and all our rooms are placed to take full advantage of the magnificent lake and mountain views.

Our five intimate Lakeside Lodge Rooms feature their own balcony or terrace; king-size bed; armoire; and ensuite bathroom with granite-topped double vanities, separate shower and bath.

Three magnificent 700 sq ft Suites offer bedroom and sitting areas which have their own stone fireplace, capacious bathroom with steam shower and separate tub and 400 sq ft private terraces, which feature heart-stopping views of the Lake.

Our Chalets reflect New Zealand colonial architecture and complement the main Lodge through the use of schist stone and timber beams. Each chalet comprises two 700 sq ft suites with open stone fireplaces and a central living room. The Stoney Creek Suites may be combined with the living room to create The Richardson Staterooms.

All rooms are equipped with complimentary high speed internet connection, TVs and DVDs.

Our nightly room rates are for two people with carte blanche use of sports equipment and facilities as well as breakfast, pre-dinner cocktails and dinner. The self-service bar in the game room/pub is open at any time at no extra charge.

Regretfully children under the age of 13 years are unable to be accommodated.

Dining

The elegant Lake View Evening Dining Room with beamed ceiling and stone fireplace is where dinner is served on individual tables. For the more intimate occasion, the Wine Cave is a perfect venue for private dining and can be reserved for up to six people. Under a clear southern sky The Terrace is a magnificent setting with the fire behind and the mountain and lake vistas unfolding around you....

Blanket Bay is pleased to have Jason Dell as our Executive Chef. A former 'New Zealand Chef of Year' Jason describes his ' style' of food as a contemporary display of fresh vibrant fare that excites the palate.

He strives for creative visual appeal, eclectic taste sensations and harmony of flavours and was trained under one of New Zealand's most elite professional and respected culinary individuals - Mr Rick Rutledge Manning, where he gained a solid grounding in both classical French and new age Pacific Rim cookery styles and a greater appreciation and understanding for premium New Zealand produce.

His passion for culinary excellence continues to evolve and he enjoys bringing a fresh perspective to the dining experiences for guests at Blanket Bay.

Jason's vision is to afford our discerning, well-travelled clientele the opportunity to savour an array of eclectic foods that showcase some of the finest ingredients New Zealand has to offer to the global market.
