Sailing under the banner of its appropriate catch phrase 180 degrees from ordinary, Windstar offers a luxury on-board product and superb signature cuisine by renowned L.A. chef Joachim Splichal, yet with a casual, intimate ambiance and dress code. In keeping with the ship ambiance, Windstar guests leave their ties and formal wear at home. By day, shorts and light shirts are the norm. For dinner and later in the evening, women typically wear casual sun dresses or pant suits, and men can be found in a pair of light-weight slacks and a polo or button-up shirt. Dinner is served with one open seating. An award-winning line, Windstar’s four sail cruise ships ply uncommon, small-ship destinations, including Costa Rica, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Panama Canal, Virgin Islands, Greek and Turkish Isles, French and Italian Rivieras, Italy’s Amalfi coast, and the Windward Islands from Barbados. Windstar Cruises finished among the top three small ship lines in Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Survey and has been the top cruise line for destinations the past five years.
In May 1998, a new generation of Windstar ship emerged. The five-masted Wind Surf (formerly Club Med I) will embark on inaugural French & Italian Riviera cruises. Accommodating 312 guests, the Wind Surf adds two major features to the Windstar Experience. The ship carries 30 deluxe suites (376 square feet) with convertible twin/queen bed, separate living areas and his and her bathrooms

Rome
2,500 years of history are woven into the fabric of modern Rome. You can feel it in the glory of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. Or as you wander sidestreets that open onto piazzas, fountains, Bernini sculpture, and elegant courtyards. Famous treasures are legion in Rome: the Colosseum…the Forum…St. Peter’s Cathedral…the Trevi Fountain…the Spanish Steps. Take time out between sights to do as the Romans do: enjoy a three-hour lunch, shop, people-watch, or savor the best gelati in theworld.
Portofino
Portofino is considered by many yachtsmen to be the “world’s most beautiful small port.” From the sea, the entrance to town is a narrow waterway, usually crowded with yachts and sailboats. Tall cliffs rise steeply above the port, dotted with expensive villas and an imposing castle. Along the water, restaurants with outdoor tables and colorful umbrellas offer refuge to some of Europe’s wealthiest and most discerning pleasure-seekers.
Portoferraio
Gliding into the town of Portoferraio, you can see why Napoleon chose Elba for his exile; an island of pink granite, pine forests, and pristine beaches. The contrasts of the Elba countryside – from its typical fishing villages and high mountain passes to its stylish summer resorts on the coast – are enchanting. Elba’s restaurants feature excellent seafood, and small private vineyards produce local Moscato and Aleatico wines.
Cannes
Cannes is the sister city to Beverly Hills and the chic epicenter of the French Riviera – a world of exclusive boutiques, palm-lined avenues, starlet-studded beaches, and elegant sidewalk cafes. While most famous for its Film Festival in May, when international celebrities gather to screen films and make deals, it glitters every month with swimming and sunning by day, and a club and casino scene by night.
The Cannes Film Festival (French: le Festival de Cannes), founded in 1946, is one of the world's oldest and most prestigious film festivals. The festival which is held annually will be in full swing during our visit to Cannes
St. Tropez
Small but chic, St. Tropez is a lively town whose beaches are legendary, both for their beauty and for the beauties on them. Follow the narrow lanes from the waterfront, and you’ll arrive at the oldest part of St. Tropez, where twisting narrow streets open onto tiny squares and fountains. Great views can be had from the 16th-century Citadel, but the most interesting views are from a chair in a sidewalk café: sit on the terrace and watch the fascinating, flirtatious French Riviera pass by.
Monte Carlo
The fairy-tale kingdom of Monte Carlo glitters with opulence and jet-set glamour, and the action centers around its famed casinos. Inside, under gilt-edged ceilings and ornate frescoes, fortunes are made or lost. Elsewhere in Monaco are the Prince’s Palace, from which the Grimaldi dynasty has ruled since 1297; the Cathedral where Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier; and the Rock of Monaco, where gardens cascade to the sea.
The Monaco Grand Prix (French: Grand Prix de Monaco) is a Formula One race held each year on the Circuit de Monaco. Run since 1929, it is widely considered to be one of the most important and prestigious automobile races in theworld alongside the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (with which it forms the Triple Crown of Motorsport). The circuit has been called "an exceptional location of glamour and prestige. Our ship will be located in the heart of Monte Carlo and you will be able to walk right up to the race!
Nice
With its casual affluence, flower-lined streets, flourishing markets, and interesting museums (the Musée Chagall and Musée Matisse are highlights), Nice is a charming introduction to the spirit of the Côte d’Azur. Stroll along its wide sunny boulevards, broken here and there by shady gardens and parks. Or stop for bouillabaisse, a specialty of the area, in a local restaurant.
This cruise is deisgned for Food & Wine lovers. There are a host of special amenities, parties, entertainment and events. One other thing to make this a carefree experience…
Your cruise is Super Inclusive, including DeLille Cellars wines with all dinners and most lunches.
Monte Carlo, Monaco Grand Prix
Enjoy the thrill of a lifetime as screaming Formula One race cars pick their way around the twisted turns and narrow passageways of beautiful Monaco. The last ‘street course’ remaining on the Grand Prix calendar, the 79-lap course offers no margin for error and every chance to be amazed.
Elsewhere in Monaco you will find the Prince’s Palace, from which the Grimaldi dynasty has ruled since 1297; the Cathedral where Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier; and the Rock of Monaco, where magnificent gardens cascade to the sea. Monaco’s famous casinos, nightclubs and cafes will help you cap off a most memorable visit in grand style. And, of course, the city’s sun-drenched beaches and sapphire-blue waters will always be waiting for you.

My husband and I and two friends did the Monaco GP 2007 cruise on the Windsurf. What a fantastic experience, a magnificent ship and the service was first class all the way, just as they advertise. It was so good in fact, that we intend to do more cruising with Windstar in the near future.
