Day 01 Arrive Budapest

Day 02 Budapest
Your A&K guide introduces you to Budapest this morning. Cross the graceful Chain Bridge over the Danube to Buda and ascend by funicular to Castle Hill where the former Royal Palace towers over the Danube. Explore the cobbled and colourful streets of this ancient Royal district and visit the Matthias Church. Your afternoon is free for shopping or relaxation (B). Budapest (Choice of category)
Day 03 Budapest
Explore Pest! Commence at the market hall where a vast array of provisions and craft wares are on sale. Visit the largest Synagogue in Europe and the Jewish Museum, see Heroes’ Square with its impressive Millennial Monument and St. Stephen’s Basilica. Finish with a private tour of the Budapest State Opera House with a special opera recital. Built between 1875 and 1884, the building has been painstakingly restored after being severely damaged during the siege of the city in 1944-45. Afternoon at leisure for further exploration (B). Day 04 Budapest — Vienna

Day 05 Design Your Day Vienna
Today choose how your wish to discover. Visit the magnificent summer palace of the Habsburgs, Schönbrunn Palace, whose sumptuously decorated rooms include the apartments of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elizabeth, as well as the magnificent ceremonial rooms. Walk the ‘Hall of Mirrors’ where Mozart performed for Empress Maria Theresa when he was 6 years old and the formally designed gardens. Or leave the city and explore the charming Vienna Woods. Visit Mayerling, scene of the suicide pact between Crown Prince Rudolph and Baroness Maria Vetsera. Once a hunting lodge, it was replaced by a convent by the bereaved Emperor. Continue to nearby Heiligenkreuz, a magnificent Cistercian Abbey and stop at the Seegrotte, a former mine and now fascinating underground lake, for a boat trip. Day 06 Vienna — Prague

Finish your morning with a visit the city’s finest Neo-Classical building, the Estates Theatre. The venue for the premiere of Mozart’s Don Giovanni in 1787, take a private tour with the orchestra’s senior conductor with a recital by a chamber quintet. Day 08 Prague
