Cutbacks to Qantas Chauffeur Drive Service You Need to Know

Qantas is decreasing the free mileage allowance to its chauffeur drive service offered to first and business class travellers on flights to London.

From March 1, the complimentary 70-mile radius (112km) distance will become 50 miles (80km) radius. Excess mileage outside of this range will be charged at a fee of £24.30 (A$44) per 10 miles.

Cuts are also being made to services at Singapore and New Zealand on Qantas flights from London. Passengers flying from London to these countries will still receive a chauffeured drive from their home or office to London Heathrow but will not have a driver at their destination as part of their first or business class ticket.

While Qantas is making the chauffeur drive available to bookings made using frequent flyer points, partner airline Emirates however, is not. Those with Emirates flights made using Qantas frequent flyer points will no longer be eligible for the airline’s complimentary chauffeur drive from March 1.

Qantas is honouring all chauffeur drive bookings made on or before March 1, 2019 for travel up until March 1, 2020.

Qantas and Emirates both use Brunel Worldwide Chauffeur Drive as their contractor. If your Qantas flights or Emirates flights booked using frequent flyer points don’t qualify for the complimentary chauffeur drive, as a Qantas frequent flyer member you can earn points when you book directly with Brunel Worldwide Chauffeur Drive.

As a Qantas frequent flyer member, you earn 4 Qantas points per $1 spent on standard rates for chauffeur and car hire services with a 100 bonus Qantas points up for grabs if you book via the Brunel Chauffeur Drive app.
