Day One

Arrive Colombo

A warm VIP welcome on arrival to Sri Lanka and transfer to your hotel.

Day Two

Colombo

The morning is a private tour of Colombo, an oceanfront city with colonial buildings, shady boulevards, stylish eateries and boutiques, Buddhist shrines and colonial churches. You will explore some of the highlights including the bustling bazaar district of Pettah, the Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple, Wolfendhal Dutch Church and Galle Face Green. Afternoon tea or a sundowner at the iconic Galle Face Hotel with its magical views over the Indian Ocean comes highly recommended.

Day Three

Colombo – The Cultural Triangle

After breakfast, you are driven northeast to World Heritage site Dambulla where you visit the extraordinary Buddhist cave temples, dating to the 3rd century BC. The statues and murals here give you an overview of Sinhalese Buddhist art at its best. Later, continue to your resort-style boutique hotel with its stunning views of the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya.

Day Four

The Cultural Triangle

This morning is a visit to the medieval capital of Polonnaruwa, another World Heritage site, with its man-made reservoir and famous rock temple where four colossal statues of the Buddha are cut into the stone. Wander around the ancient palace ruins. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy your villa.

Day Five

Sigiriya – Kandy

First stop today is the lofty cliff top citadel of Sigiriya. Set 200m up on an enormous rocky outcrop, wander through picturesque water gardens and climb past the ancient and colossal Lion’s Paws to a steep winding staircase which takes you to the top, via the beautifully well-preserved cave frescoes. At the top, a remarkable view of the surrounding landscape. Then, continue the drive south to Kandy, the cultural hub of the island.

Day Six

Hatton

Today explore Kandy including a visit to the golden-roofed Temple of the Tooth for the morning puja ritual. The temple which houses the sacred relic, the tooth of the Buddha, is located by the picture-perfect Kandy Lake. This evening a Kandyan cultural show is arranged before returning to the hotel.

Day Seven

Kandy – Dickoya

After breakfast head south to Dickoya in the tea gardens and your new boutique hotel which overlooks the Castlereagh Reservoir. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day Eight

Dickoya

This morning is at leisure to enjoy the hotel, nearby walking trails or a bike ride through the plantations. This afternoon head out for an exclusive “Tea Experience”. Introduced to the country in1867 by the English, Ceylon tea is Sri Lanka’s main export. You can try your hand at tea plucking and learn about its journey from ‘two-leaves and bud’ to a cuppa.

Day Nine

Dickoya – Galle

A long drive south today to Galle and your boutique villa style hotel which is located within the old fort.

Day Ten

Galle

Start your day with a drive east to see the famous stilt fishermen of Sri Lanka’s southern coast – an iconic photo opportunity. This age-old method is still practiced and is a tradition unique to Sri Lanka. If you’re feeling brave enough, try mounting the stilt yourself and tossing out a line! Return to Galle later and this afternoon tour the historic 17th century Galle Fort, the largest intact Dutch fort in Asia. Wander through the atmospheric streets of the old fort, admiring the colonial architecture and imagining the lives of the original merchant families who lived there.

Day Eleven

Galle – Colombo

Transfer back to Colombo airport and your departing flight.
