Day One

Arrive Paris

Welcome to the French capital and a private transfer to your hotel.
Accommodation: Hotel Le Meurice (Deluxe Room)

 

Day Two

Paris

Visit the Louvre Museum, home to one of the world’s most important art collections. Housed in a magnificent Renaissance building, the main entrance is covered by a large glass, steel rod and cable pyramid designed by the American architect I.M. Pei. Continue to the Marais, one of Paris’s most historic districts. Visit the famous Place des Vosges, lined with pink brick and covered arcades, and the Musée Carnavalet, which documents the history of Paris.

Day Three

Paris

Join a Paris restaurant critic and foodie who will spend the morning introducing you to some of the city’s best suppliers. Take a glimpse into the life of a dedicated chocolatier or explore a cheese cellar beneath one of the city’s traditional fromageries.

Day Four

Paris – Chartres – Onzain

This morning you are driven to the Loire Valley via Chartres where you will see the magnificent Gothic cathedral with its world famous stained glass windows.

Day Five

Loire Valley

Starting in Amboise you will visit the Clos Lucé, a handsome Renaissance manor where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last four years of his life. The museum contains working models of some of da Vinci’s inventions. Continue to Château de Chenonceau which straddles the river and is one of the best known châteaux of the Loire region. Finally, visit the vast Château de Chambord.

Day Six

Onzain – Martillac

Transfer to St Pierre des Corps railway station and board the TGV train to Bordeaux. On arrival you are privately transferred to your hotel, located in the vineyards of Chateau Smith-Haut Lafitte.

Day Seven

Bordeaux

A morning tour of Bordeaux. The city is set against a backdrop of neoclassical architecture, wide avenues and pretty parks. Visit the riverfront esplanade and the Museum of Fine Arts. Meet a Bordeaux local who welcomes you into her typically Bordelaise home to share a traditional lunch accompanied by local wines.

Day Eight

Design Your Day Bordeaux

With world class vineyards all around you have a choice to make. Explore St. Emilion, a medieval town and UNESCO World Heritage Site noted for the production of fine wines. Visit one of the underground churches and 13th century ramparts which encircle the village as well as some local vineyards. Or head into the Médoc wine region where you visit several of the most prestigious wine châteaux in the world, Mouton-Rothschild or Château Lanessan for example.

Day Nine

Depart Martillac – Bordeaux

Transfer to Bordeaux Airport where your journey ends.
